The resurrection of Palmy Steel, but this time as the new Old Boys' Rugby Team
Palmy Steel will be looking to play at rugby sevens and tens tournaments around the country.
Our Old Boys often have fond memories playing rugby together and frequently after secondary school people tend to stop playing altogether, as other work and family commitments take over.
A new initiative has been brought forward by Old Boy and current Manawatu Turbo, Johnny Galloway, to allow Old Boys to reunite and play sevens or tens rugby in a competitive manner at various tournaments around New Zealand.
This team will be tied to the PNBHS Old Boys Association playing under the name ‘Palmy Steel’. For those who are unfamiliar with the name, 'Palmy Steel' was founded in the early 2000's and was known as the 1st XV Supporters Club.
The Palmy Steel Rugby Team will be looking to play at a number of events throughout the year, with the first event being Manawatu Rugby's Sevens Tournament in February 2021 followed by the Kimbolton Sevens.
We hope to lure some of our talented Old Boys to join the team and play at various events throughout the year. We believe this is a great opportunity for Old Boys to have rugby reunions and play code together in a social yet competitive manner. We expect this team to have a number of successful wins at various tournaments given the calibre of players we have produced over the years.
We hope that you are able to support this initiative and perhaps join the team for the inaugural tournament.
A big thank you to the Old Boys who have sponsored the team. Also a big thank you to Old Boy James Muir and his account manager Hayden O'Neill from O’Neills Irish International Sports NZ for their support with organising the team kit.
