Miss Belcher’s Theatresports Team and Mr and Mrs Mills’s Rector’s Company (Shakespeare) competed in the recent Super Eight Cultural Festival that was held in Taupo, with both finishing in very creditable third places. Our Theatresports Team consisted of four Year 11 Drama students: Angus Taylor, Campbell Mackintosh, Lachlan Hall and Oscar Mudgeway.

The Rector’s Company performed first and produced a fine performance of the scene from Shakespeare’s Henry IV part 1 which we characterised as a cricket team from the 1980s, with our own beefy Botham with the PNBHS Kapa Haka group supporting from the audience. The selection of scenes for performance from the other schools was varied, with excerpts from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Foreskins Lament, that placed fourth and fifth respectively. First place was taken by NPBHS with a devised piece, with Hamilton BHS taking second. The Rector’s Company placed third.

The Rector’s Company are developing their performance of As You Like It, onstage in the PNBHS Little Theatre in Week 2 of Term 3.
