1st XI Football v Rongotai College - Wednesday 29 July

PNBHS —

PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI played Rongotai College, winning 4 – 3.

Boys' High started poorly, with Rongotai College dominating both territory and possession early in the match. Against the run of play, Boys’ High earned a penalty which was executed by Ben Mori, although, soon after, Rongotai were rewarded for their efforts after a goal mouth scramble. The teams went into the end of the first half, 1 all.

After the break, Rongotai took the lead early on, after poor defending allowed their striker on goal. A goal down, Boys’ High worked their way back into the game, stretching the Rongotai defence. In-form striker Jaiden Meyer got Boys’ High back to 2 all after “hammering” in a shot from just outside the box. Not to be out done, Rongotai scored again, followed by a goal from Thomas Bell who was playing his first game for the 1st XI. With the game looking like a draw, Boys’ High were rewarded with another penalty which was “put away” by Ben Mori, to seal the deal. Of note, newcomers Thomas Bell and Ashton Castell-Spence had solid games.

The 1st XI would like to thank our team sponsors: PlaceMakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.

A big thank you to Year 12 student Max Clough for the photos!
