Mathex 🧮
Mathex continued its history of excitement with close finishes in both the recent Year 9 and Year 10 competitions.
The PNBHS Year 9 teams struggled with the initial puzzles of the practical round, having to bounce back in rapid-fire questions. Team 1 finished third equal on 26 points, while Team 2 claimed second place with 28 points, two points behind the winners.
The Year 10 first team found themselves in the same positions as last year's team - in a tie with Girl's High. The tiebreaker question was tricky, with both teams quickly guessing the same obvious but wrong answer, then settling into careful working. Josiah Lo spotted the mistake in the initial answer and enabled the team to secure first place.
The trophy winning Year 10 team was: Anthony Yuan, Josiah Lo, Tristan Taylor and Bao Minh Phan.
Well done to all of the young men who chose to extend themselves by entering the Mathex competition.
