PNBHS Staff Take on David Goggins' 4x4x48 Challenge for Movember

PNBHS —

In a remarkable display of resilience and community spirit, over 30 PNBHS staff members from participated in the gruelling 4x4x48 challenge inspired by David Goggins.

From the 14th to 16th of November, teachers and support staff alike ran 6.4 kilometers every four hours for 48 hours, braving wet weather conditions for most of the challenge. Some staff did the full challenge, while others joined for one loop or more in either walking, rowing, biking or swimming. Some runners from the GOAT crew led by David Brokenshire and some Year 13 students training for the 2025 Crest to Crest also participated. This demanding challenge not only tested their physical endurance but also highlighted their unwavering commitment to supporting a worthy cause. The event was part of the Movember campaign, aimed at raising awareness and funds for men's health issues, particularly cancer.

The collective effort of the PNBHS staff was truly inspiring, showcasing their grit, courage, and determination. Despite the tough conditions, they persevered, demonstrating the power of teamwork and community. Their hard work paid off, as they successfully raised NZ$922.00 for the Cancer Society of New Zealand. Participation in the 4x4x48 challenge served as a powerful reminder of the impact that dedicated individuals can have when they come together for a common cause.

As well as those staff who were doing the physical challenge another handful of staff also wanted to contribute to the David Goggins' 4x4x48 Challenge for Movember.  This group decided to do their bit by cooking a handful of ethnic specialties to sell to PNBHS staff at lunchtime.  A plate consisting of fry bread, pork and prawn and pork and chives dumplings and a Sri Lankan curry roll was sold for $5.00, with close to $250.00 collected towards the cause.

We are very much looking forward to doing this again next year, only bigger and better! A huge thank you goes to Yilin Zhao, Debi Marshall-Lobb, Noo’san Paku, Yuka Mizutani and Geedha Reid for making the delicious food.
