1st XI Football v Whanganui City - Saturday 25 July
PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI played competition leaders Whanganui City, drawing 3 – 3. Boys' High started well, dominating both territory and possession early in the match. With the wind behind them, Ben Mori opened the score with a well struck shot that beat the keeper. Soon after, Ryan Watson added to the tally, followed by another from “in-form” striker Ben Mori from the penalty spot. At halftime, although three goals ahead, coach Mr Dawson warned the players that the team hadn’t played that well in the first half and would need to come out firing if they wanted to finish the match with a win.
After halftime, Whanganui City found their rhythm and slowly played themselves back into the match, with two well-worked goals, putting pressure on the home side. Despite hitting the woodwork on several occasions, Boys’ High could not extend their lead. In a frustrating final 10 minutes, Whanganui City won a penalty in the last moments of the game, which was executed, to make the final score 3 all.
The 1st XI would like to thank our team sponsors: PlaceMakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.
