Several PNBHS mathematics students were selected by Dr Tularam to take part in the important Mathex – Mathematics Competition offered in 2021. The selected students had to spend their precious time during early mornings, intervals and lunchtimes to prepare to take part in the NZ Mathematics Association run competition for our region.

Unfortunately, due to covid last year we were not able to defend our Year 9 first prize and to improve on our Year 10 second prize attained in the 2019 Mathex.

Luckily, in 2021 the Mathex Competition was offered by the Manawatu Mathematics Association. Therefore, it is indeed a pleasure to report that the PNBHS Year 9 and 10 won first prizes in both Year 9 and 10 respective divisions.

I would like to congratulate all the members of the Year 9 and 10 groups who participated and helped to make another exciting year for the PNBHS Mathematics students and the Mathematics Department.

As a prize, a sum of money and a Mathex certificate was given to the respective winners, while all others who participated received Mathex Certificates for being a part of the PNBHS student group within the competition.
