Taranaki Hardcore Camp
Twenty-six students and five staff members travelled north for the Taranaki Hardcore Camp, embarking on a week of outdoor adventure in one of the most picturesque locations in New Zealand, Taranaki. On our way north to Fitzroy Beach camp we stopped in Okaiawa to do dam dropping where Brookes McCall was the first to brave the dam. The boys found the river icy cold as it ran straight off Mount Taranaki but they braved the conditions and got stuck in.
After setting up camp at Fitzroy Beach we climbed Paritutu Rock and then went sand duning at Back Beach where the annual dune race was won by Alex Jamieson. The next three days started with surfing and the boys showed they were quick learners having a great time in good conditions. The rest of the days were filled with fishing, biking, spike ball and other beach activities. Beach sprints saw Brooklyn Jackson crowned the champ. The boys attitude and willingness to get involved was excellent. A great week was had by all and a special thanks to the staff who made the camp possible.
