Waitangi Day 2022

PNBHS —

On February 6, 1840 the initial signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi - The Treaty of Waitangi took place, a significant moment in Aotearoa's history. The first Waitangi Day was not celebrated until 1934 and was made a Public Holiday in 1974. The Public Holiday has now been 'Mondayised' meaning that if Waitangi Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Public Holiday will be observed on the following Monday. This is the case in 2022, meaning that school is closed tomorrow, Monday, February 7.
