Further Leaving Staff

PNBHS —

Recently we farewelled two further staff members who are departing Palmy Boys' at the end of the school year.

Mrs. Abby Morgan joined our teaching staff in a maternity leave cover position at the beginning of term three, having spent time with us earlier in the year as a student-teacher. Mrs. Morgan has fully embraced school life during this short period of time, managing the Junior Orange Football team – that she convinced her husband to coach - and the Cavaliers Basketball team, alongside working to ensure the best possible education outcomes for the young men in her classes. Mrs. Morgan has been appointed to a teaching position at Ruapehu College and we wish her all the best for the next stage in her career and the impending expansion of her family.

Mr. Mazhoor Sujau has had a significant association with PNBHS. He attended as a student from 2007 – 2011, returned in 2013 as the IT technician, a position he held until 2016 when he joined Sport Manawatū. During 2012 he began a role as the IT Technician at College House and went on to work as a Hostel Master from 2013 – 2016. In his role as IT Technician his patient approach and willingness to help were greatly valued by the staff, while the positive relationships he formed and the time and effort he put into the young men at College House was likewise greatly appreciated.

He returned to Palmy Boys' at the beginning of 2019 in a new role as Sponsorship, Fundraising and Events Coordinator. This new position reflects the time and energy that is required to raise funds so that the school can support young men and offer programmes and facilities that government funding does not cover. In this role he has helped to develop relationships with the local community and the PNBHS Old Boys network across the globe. In 2020 he took responsibility for the Palmerstonian magazine, a significant undertaking.

Mr. Sujau has been an enthusiastic supporter of our co-curricular programmes, coaching rugby and 7’s teams. He has also played a significant role in the organisation of the Sir Gordon Tietjens 7’s Tournament and is regularly contracted by the New Zealand Rugby Union to help with the running of the national ‘Top Four’ rugby finals.

Mr. Sujau is joining Steelfort as their Marketing Executive in 2021 and we wish him all the best for this exciting next stage in his career.
