NZCT Chamber Music Competition 2020

PNBHS —

Well done to all of the PNBHS musicians who competed in the Manawatū District Round of the prestigious NZCT Chamber Music Competition.

Congratulations to Deputy Head Prefect Ciaran Carroll (piano), who alongside PNGHS students Enshean Lin (violin) and Ayoung Cho (cello) made up ‘Dimitrio’, the winners of the Manawatū District Round of the prestigious NZCT Chamber Music Competition and also Central Regional Finalists (Bronze Award).  

Palmerston North Boys’ High School string trio ‘No Frets’ (Ciaran Carroll, Ray Su and Torrence Cheung) and brass ensemble ‘Honkers’ (Arahan Pilkington, Leo Huang, Tom Varney, Kevin Cao and Morgan Bradley) were both Highly Commended, with ‘Honkers’ also being awarded the KBB Music Award and ‘No Frets’ the Best Performance of a New Zealand Work.

A reminder that the annual School Concert - a showcase of the musical talent at PNBHS - is on Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12 at 7.30pm in the Speirs Centre.
