Following the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Smallbore Shooting Championships David Murphy was selected for the North Island team, which defeated the South Island team with a record score.  David was subsequently named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Smallbore Shooting team to compete against great Britain.  He was also named the 'Top Boy' at the championships, the third year in a row a student from Palmerston North Boys' High School has won the Winn Family trophy following on from Shaun Jeffery's success in 2018 and 2019.
