Absences and Lateness

PNBHS —

Parents/Guardians are requested to inform the school by 9.00am at the latest each day, if a student is going to be late or absent from school. Phone 3545176 extension 761 and leave a message (this is a 24 hour service).

Letters explaining absence from school must be shown to the Form Teacher on the day the student returns to school. Any student who is absent from school for three or more consecutive days due to illness may be requested to provide a doctor’s certificate.

Students who arrive at school late must report to the Deputy Rector or Senior Masters on arrival and obtain a student late slip. This must be presented to their Class and Form Teacher as appropriate.

Requests for leave during term time are not encouraged and can only be approved for bereavements, serious illness and school/representative sporting/cultural events. We understand that at times circumstances dictate that unapproved absences are requested but it is difficult to educate the young men of the school to their potential of they do not attend. If it is essential that you take your son out of school during term time any requests for leave must be in writing, addressed to the Rector and emailed to admin@pnbhs.school.nz well in advance.
