Kawhatau Outdoors Camp

PNBHS —

Read Oliver George's summary of the Kawhatau Outdoors camp below.

Going on camp is always an exciting experience. However, going on school camp this year created a whole new level of enjoyment and memories. Due to weather complications rafting had to be moved to Monday. After we arrived it became a mad dash to get the tents up and be ready for rafting in the afternoon. Rafting was an experience on its own, where we thundered down rapids and swam in the chilling river. When we got back to camp, the cookers came out and dinner was quickly under way.

The next morning was a slow start to a tramp up to Rangiwahia Hut with a few boys going off with Mr Higgie Snr to catch fish a little further away. Chicken burgers capped off a really great day.

On Wednesday, the boys did rock painting, riddle debunking and ‘MasterChef’ - with some accurately re-created judges. In the afternoon we went into Taihape to ‘restock’ before gumboot throwing and fish and chips for dinner.

Thursday morning, we cleaned up the lodge before heading to Feilding. There we played mini-golf, then ate pizza and played cricket at Kowhai Park.

I will always remember this camp, as every aspect of it was really enjoyable. I would not have traded it for anything else.
