Parent-Teacher Association Update

PNBHS —

Earlier this week the PTA held its monthly meeting. On the agenda was the “Department Wishlist” which is where departments submit applications for important additional resources and the PTA allocates funds towards some of these.

Even though the PTA committed extra spending this year (from its reserves) to purchase the equipment for two additional picnic tables for the boys, the new gear cage, COVID sanitizer, and the student diaries at the start of the year, the PTA chose to still allocate a generous amount of money toward the “Wishlist”.

The departments, and of course the young men, will benefit hugely from these additional resources. The amount allocated was approximately $12,500 and is going in areas such as: additional musical instruments, biology equipment, piupiu for the Maori Performing Arts class, new moveable library shelving, playing strips for sports teams, equipment for the Vex Robotics group, and water polo and sport science gear.

In addition, the PTA approved a $4,500 payment for the book prizes at the end of year prize giving.  They have also committed to providing diaries for all Year 9 and Year 10 students in 2021 to help these young men develop good organisational and time management skills as they begin their secondary schooling.

Thank you to those families who contributed to the PTA school donations, as this is where a significant portion of this money comes from. The staff and young men of Palmerston North Boys' High School thank you.
