Te Piringa Kapa Haka
On Saturday, July 3, students involved with Te Piringa kapa haka took part in the reigional kapa haka competition at Manfield showgrounds. After hours and hours of dedicated work pushing themselves to learn a full bracket over the past three months, the students involved were ready to hit the floor running. After some amazing solo singing and intense haka the crowd was left in awe as Te Piringa went about their work. In true Te Piringa style they sang and did haka about current events including Coronavirus, with a dazzling display of creativity. In the end Te Piringa ended up coming 2nd to a clinical Manukura group. However, this means that Te Piringa have qualified for the National Kapa Haka competition next year. A huge amount of respect and praise must go out to the students involved who were, Haimona Maruera who was the leader of this group, Ihaka Rapira, Rakaunui Rukuwai, and Harvey Johnston.
