Surrealism etchings

Students have been working on creating etchings over the past few weeks. The etching process involves students scratching into a surface with a sharp tool, applying ink into the scratches, wiping any excess ink off the plate, then printing the plate onto water-soaked paper using the printing press. Students etchings were inspired by Surrealism, the 20th century art movement, which looked to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind by the irrational organization of images.
