PNBHS —

The current season of the PNBHS/PNGHS production of 'Streakin thru the '70s' has been a real highlight of the last week.  Like many school activities, the polished performance the audience sees is only a very small glimpse of the full picture.  The annual production is the culmination of countless hours of preparation and rehearsal, and it is important that we recognise the Te mahi tahi | Industry exhibited by the young men and women involved with the show, alongside the many staff and others from the community whose contributions are essential to its success.

Well done also to the young men who represented Palmy Boys' at the Manawatū Inter-Secondary School Athletics (MISSA) last weekend.  The school contested 40 events for 33 wins, 20 seconds and 14 thirds.  Angus Lyver was awarded the Albert Pootjes trophy for the 'Athlete of the Meet' after winning the 200m, Long Jump and Javelin.  It was also fantastic to have 14 young men selected in the Manawatū Secondary Schools' Athletics team to compete in the upcoming North Island championships.  A full report from MISSA will be included in our April Newsletter.

As summer sports competitions wrap up trials are well underway for many of our winter sporting codes and it is fantastic to see so many young men positively and enthusiastically involved in this aspect of school life.  Unfortunately, in an environment as busy as ours there are sometimes clashes that result in young men having to choose between activities.  We appreciate that this is not ideal, but it is unavoidable.  It has been a cause of frustration recently when some have not communicated about a clash, or have left it until the last minute to do so, meaning that allowances cannot be made or extra players called upon.  Failure to communicate in a timely manner results in teammates and coaches being let down.  Please work with your son to ensure that if he does have clashes between his school commitments he communicates the information as soon as possible with the relevant staff members.

A reminder that registrations for winter sport are currently open and information about registering to play Basketball, Football, Hockey, Rugby and Table Tennis can be found in this newsletter.

A reminder that the Easter break is coming up and school will be closed for instruction from Friday, April 2 until Tuesday, April 6.  Please note that the Tuesday after Easter is traditionally a holiday for all New Zealand schools.
