Nic Verry and Jack Aitken-Cade Perform Strongly at National Junior Young Farmer of the Year Competition 🚜
Nic Verry and Jack Aitken-Cade competed in the National Junior Young Farmer of the Year competition during the July school holidays. The competition involved two full-on days, putting their knowledge and practical skills to the test with a written exam, technical modules, speech, practical farmlet and quick-fire knowledge buzzer quiz.
Nic and Jack placed first in the exam, second in the technical modules, top scored in the fencing part of the farmlet and were third in the quiz - fantastic results and a testament to their hard work in preparation for the competition.
Nic and Jack would like to thank the school for supporting them through the ‘Region-off’ competition with the Taranaki-Manawatū region coming out on top meaning a donation of $5000 to the GrassRoots Trust Rescue Helicopter.
It was great to have a couple of our Old Boys, Stanley Fraser and Joseph Watts involved with the Junior Young Farmer of the Year competition and to see them make contact with Nic and Jack. Stanley is an Elected Director on the Board of New Zealand Young Farmers and Joseph is the New Zealand Young Farmers contest sub-committee Chairperson.
Nic and Jack are extremely grateful to Farmlands Palmerston North for their support of their campaign for the National Junior Young Farmer of the Year competition.
