Kawhatau Outdoors – Camp Report 🚣‍♂️

PNBHS —

Year 10 Camp week saw 23 young men and a team of four enthusiastic staff head to the Kawhatau Outdoors Centre - inland from Mangaweka. Each action-packed day saw the young men experience something new and different. Monday included rafting the Rangitikei River, rock sculpting as well as students being responsible for their own accommodation   (tents) and food. Tuesday was tramp day while Wednesday was group competitions day. This saw the four randomly selected groups compete in a rotation of activities; ‘Masterchef’, sport, art and brain teasers / puzzles. Later that afternoon meant a trip into Taihape and some gumboot throwing as well as a fish and chip dinner. This year saw a new inclusion on Thursday with the Farrell family hosting us for a farm experience day.

As well as the numerous and engaging activities food was also a highlight of this camp. It soon earned the nickname ‘Camp Kai’ with many young men, and all of the staff, coming home a little heavier than when they departed.
