Tom Chrisholm

PNBHS 1987-1988

Tom Chrisholm is the owner of Agdesign limited a farm system design and development company based in Palmerston North. They design, install, educate, and implement unique farm systems for their clients. As Tom says “we have our feet firmly on the ground with what were about – understanding land and animal is bone deep with us. In its simplest form we turn kilos of pasture into kilos meat, milk or fibre and were bloody good at it.”

Tom has successfully operated his business for over 25 years.

Campbell Dodds

PNBHS 1994-1997

Campbell Dodds works with Tom Chrisholm at Agdesign and specialises in Environmental Management. Prior to joining Agdesign he was an “Environmental Manager” with Fonterra. He is highly experienced in Environmental Management including Resource Consenting and Compliance, water and wastewater treatment, operational performance and farming practices.

Phillip Cornege

PNBHS 1994-1998

Phillip Cornege is a Barrister at Riverbank Chamber in Hamilton. Phillip is an experienced litigator, providing advice and representation on a range of civil, criminal, and public law matters. He also acts for defendants in regulatory and professional disciplinary proceedings and before sporting (including racing) disciplinary bodies. Phillip has a paperless practice, including in court. He conducts training for the NZ Bar Association on running paperless hearings.

Maurice Olmedo-Perez

PNBHS 1989-1993

Maurice Olmedo-Perez is a Video Producer, Broadcast Journalist and Media Trainer for Media Online Productions in Auckland. The company creates videos for online and television. We also provide media training for the industry and corporate world “Digital Ninja”. You may remember Maurice as a Reporter for TVNZ a number of years ago. He has also worked for BBC News in London, been a tour guide in Latin America, freelance writer for the NZ Herald, freelance reporter for BBC News, Media teacher at the Auckland University of Technology, and Producer for Sky TV NZ. He still maintains his interest in football.

The Company’s Brand is digital Ninja, which is a boutique agency that has become a home for former TV News Producers, Journalists, Directors, Editors, Musicians, and PR Professionals. Their collective experience gives a unique insight into creating web video strategies that will actually do more than just create content on a Website or Social Media outlet.

Anand Segar

PNBHS 1997-2001

Anand Segar is a Spinal Surgeon in Auckland, Anand completed his medical education at the University of Auckland, graduating top of his class. He subsequently trained in Orthopaedic Surgery in New Zealand and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He was awarded his PhD from the University of Oxford, UK, where he examined the relationship of obesity and low back pain. He has received numerous awards for his research and serves as a Deputy Editor for the Journal ‘Clinical Spine Surgery’.

Anand has completed three prestigious highly competitive, and world-renowned Spine Surgical fellowships in the United States working under the leader in the field. This has provided him with a unique and comprehensive understanding of spinal problems afflicting patients of all age groups, from birth to the more vulnerable patients in any aspect of their spine, all the way from their skull to their tailbone.

Anand splits his time between his public position as a Paediatric Spinal Surgeon at Starship Children’s Hospital and as an Adult and Paediatric Spinal Surgeon in private practices, with clinics in all five Auckland regions. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, a good run with his dog and reading.

Cameron Rowe

PNBHS 1993-1997

Cameron Rowe completed his Master’s degree in history at Massey University. (Thesis topic, “a contract between the Allied and Soviet armoured divisions battle strategies during the second World War”). He has since worked for both the New Zealand and British Military and is currently in Auckland as a Senior Policy Advisor for NZ Customs.

Jeff Law Is the Head of Power and Infrastructure Finance at Investec Australia Limited in Sydney.

Colson Verdonk

PNBHS 2011-2015

Colson Verdonk is a communications Research and Policy Assistant to Dr Anne Neru Leavasa at NZ Parliament. Colson has Arts and Sciences degrees from Auckland University. He has a passion for policy, with a particular interest In Public Health, Social Housing, Environmental Issuer, Restorative Justice and Indigenous Rights.

Rodney Grieve

PNBHS 1980-1984

Rodney Grieve is the Franchise Owner/Managing Director of Bayley’s Real Estate in Palmerston North. Rodney put together a very strong Old Boys’ tennis team for last year’s annual School/Old Boys’ Sports day. He also hosted an excellent memorial gathering to acknowledge the untimely death of Matthew Ratana while on active duty as a London Policeman.

Mitchell Boddy

PNBHS 2011-2015

Mitchell Boddy is with the Commercial and Industries sales and leasing at Bayley’s Mid-West in Palmerston North. Mitchell has a Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Planning (Honours) from Massey University. He is still playing cricket for the Marist Club in Palmerston North.

Connor Madigan

PNBHS 2011-2015

Connor Madigan is the Custodial Administrator at Admins Ltd in Wellington. Prior to this he had been an Operations Team member at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from Victoria University.

Dylan Gaskin

PNBHS 2010-2014

Dylan Gaskin is the Account Executive at First AMC In Auckland. His role is essentially an Anti Money Laundering Compliance Officer in the Real Estate Industry. Dylan completed a Bachelor of Business Studies in Accounting and Finance at Massey University.

Hugh Symes

PNBHS 2011-2015

Hugh Symes is a Client Support Representative at Consilium in Christchurch. Consilium offers a wide range of innovative solutions for independent financial advisor practices and financial institutions. Their goal is to equip advisors with global best practice solutions and high-quality support, so they can focus on maximising the investment experience of their customers. Hugh completed a Bachelor of Business Studies in Finance and Accounting through Massey University.

Professor Ben Marshall

PNBHS 1990-1994

Professor Ben Marshall works with Consilium Investment Committee as an Independent Academic Consultant, with a particular focus on governance, analytical support, and policy reviews. He serves on the editorial board of several journals and has consulted to public of private companies in a range of different areas. He holds the MSA Charitable Trust Chair in Finance at Massey University.

Ben has undertaken research in areas such as; the impact of climate on financial markets, factors that influence stock returns, quantitative approaches to portfolio management, transaction cost and illiquidity measurement and exchange traded funds.

His research has been published in leading international journals and he is a regular speaker at international finance conferences. Ben is currently ranked in the top 1% of authors based on downloads of his working papers.

Ben Langton Burnell

PNBHS 2006-2011

Ben Langton Burnell a Commonwealth Games javelin thrower and hopefully, this year an Olympian, has his own professional photography business in Hamilton. While spending plenty of time training, Ben has completed his two qualifications through Massey University, a Bachelor degree in Agribusiness/Agricultural Business Operations, Accountancy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance. To also set up his own business he must be an expert in time allocation.

Ben’s personal best javelin throw is 82.44 meters and he was placed 10th in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He won his first N2 title in 2017. His long-term goal Is to be the first New Zealander to throw 90 metres.

George Smith

PNBHS 2008-2012

George Smith is a pilot at Harris Operations based in Cairns Australia. He has been employed in the aviation industry for over five years after originally completing his flight training through the Waikato Aero Club.

Aaron Robertson

PNBHS 1993-2003

Aaron Robertson, after completing a surveying degree through Otago University, has worked in Western Australia, Westport, Auckland and was a Project Manager for Harrison Grierson In Tauranga. He is now the subdivision Technical Manager and Licensed Surveyor at Surveying Services in Tauranga. No doubt he is very busy given the growth of the Tauranga area.

Brad Spice

Brad Spice is a Finance Specialist for UDC Finance and Commercial Manager in the Manawatu/Whanganui area.

Sam Bergerson

PNBHS 2007-2011

Sam Bergerson grew up around horses working weekends with his Dad, Royden, a trainer at Awapuni. His grandfather is the former Hawera trainer Herb Bergeson. His other grandfather, Wallace Young is also a trainer. With his strong background in the horse industry, Sam initially left school to begin an accounting cadetship which included completing a Bachelor of Accounting through Massey University. But he soon realised that he wanted to be more than an Accountant.

While on a rugby contract playing for the Kindale Club in Ireland he began a summer job with Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle Stables in Kildare. It didn’t take long for Sam to realise that the thoroughbred industry was where he wanted to work. He returned to NZ in 2018 to work with his father. In 2019 Sam was awarded the Sunline Trust Scholarship which gave

him the chance to spend six months overseas, learning the ropes at Taylor Made in Kentucky, Coolmore stud in Ireland and Shadwell stud in England. On return to NZ Sam has taken up a position with Te Akau Stud at Matamata where he can specialise in his interest in breeding. He has, during lockdown, learnt many other aspects of farming, including getting rid of weeds, and tending to sheep and cattle.

Garry Wilson

PNBHS 1959-1963

Garry Wilson, since retiring as the Chief Executive of Accident Compensation Corporation, has built up a varied portfolio of directorships and has continued his interest in mentoring senior executives. His current directorships include St John New Zealand (immediate past chair and chancellor). Garry also undertook various volunteer and governance roles; SPAT NZ Chairman, Precision Seafood Harvesting Chairman, Risk and Assurance Board Ministry of Education Chairman, Governance Oversight Group of Canterbury University Chairman, Royal Australian College of Surgeons External Expert Advisor to Board and Angelicin Insurance Board Board member.

Garry also operates a consultancy business undertaking tasks for both the private and public sectors.

Daniel Marshall

PNBHS 1992-1996

Daniel Marshall is a highly regarded Urologist in Palmerston North. He returned to Palmerston North after studying at Otago University and completing a General Urological Fellowship with a special interest in Laparoscopy and Prosthetics in Sydney, Australia. Daniel is a full member of the Urological Society of Australia and NZ of the American Urological Association.

Simon Marshall

PNBHS 1995-1999

Simon Marshall has been the Principal of Newbury School for three years and from the beginning of term 2 2021 will become the new principal of College Street School, Palmerston North, where he will succeed long serving Principal Ross Kennedy. Simon completed a Master of Education through Massey University and taught at Central Normal School and Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School. His first Principal role was at Kumeroa-Hopelands School near Woodville. He has also worked in two London Schools. We wish him well in his new challenge at one of Palmerston Norths oldest schools.
