Term 3, Week 10: Monday 24 - Sunday 30 September

PNBHS —

The final week of the term will be a busy one for young men and staff.  Senior students will be receiving their results from the school examinations and young men at all year levels will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities as part of the Shand Shield competition.

Research examining the experiences of young people in schools in New Zealand, specifically their mental health outcomes, noted that young people who attend schools with an internal competition such as the Shand Shield tend to have better mental health outcomes when compared to the overall cohort of students.  The researchers completing this research linked this to the stronger sense of belonging that is developed by young people who have direct opportunities to be involved in a range of school activities additional to their basic education - another great reason for young men to get involved.

After a very disrupted first half of the year term, three has been incredibly busy - very much 'back to normal' in terms of school life.  Our September Newsletter will be published next week and will provide a snapshot of the many activities that our young men have been involved with over the send part of the term - keep an eye on your inbox.

A reminder that Monday, September 26 is now a Public Holiday - Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day. Palmerston North Boys' High School, along with all New Zealand state schools, will be closed on this day.
