The conclusion of a very busy school term is fast approaching. While the disruptions caused by the recent industrial action have been challenging, the positive manner in which the vast majority of young men continue to display is commendable. This week saw nearly 800 young people from PNBHS and PNGHS attend the Junior Social and a PNBHS group of 80 students competed in the annual Pasifika Fusion Festival, both in addition to the vast array of co-curricular activities that take place on a daily basis.
Congratulations to our young men for their full involvement in school life and thank you to our staff and other volunteers from the community for the significant time and effort they put in to make these opportunities available. More detail will be provided about many of these activities in our June Newsletter which will be published next week.
PPTA Union Meeting – Wednesday, June 28
As per our email to you earlier in the week, the PPTA, the secondary school teacher’s union, has halted planned industrial action so that the dispute with the Ministry of Education can go to arbitration. This communication is to update you with information about the Paid Union Meeting that will take place next Wednesday, June 28 from 9.00am to 11.30am.
Because of the large number of teaching staff members who will be attending this meeting, we need to make some changes to the arrangements for the day. These are outlined below:
Year 9 - students are expected at school as usual by 8.40am and will be supervised by non-PPTA staff members during periods 1 and 2.
Years 10 – 13 – students will need to be at school in time for their timetabled period 3 class at 11.30am.
Please note that school buses will run at the usual time on this day. Students in Years 10 – 13 who arrive at school before 11.30am can report to the library and will be supervised by non-PPTA staff members.
The sports exchange with St. Patrick’s College Silverstream will go ahead as scheduled.
