by PNBHSThe same weekend also saw the inaugural Palmy Steel Old Boys 7’s team take to the field, the working party behind this was Muz Sujau and Johnny Galloway. Muz managed to find 11 business sponsors whose logos were displayed on the team shirts, notably most of these business sponsors were Old Boys. The weekend began with team drinks at sponsor The Fat Farmer and then it was competition day on Saturday. The Manawatu 7’s Invitational Tournament was held out at the Massey Recreation grounds, teams locally and domestically were entered, Palmy Steel cleaned up winning the tournament and gifting $300 to the Old Boys’ Association to support their entry to future tournaments. It was enjoyable to watch recent and not so recent Old Boys out there on the field, Daniel Edwards and Muz did an excellent job as managers and water boys. We look forward to seeing Palmy Steel in action again at the end of 2021.
