Success at the North Island Secondary Schools' Swimming Championships

Earlier this term a team of 16 swimmers went to Wellington to compete at the North Island Secondary Schools' Swimming Championships. This was a successful weekend in the pool winning 14 golds, 4 silvers, and 3 bronzes. With over sixty top 10 placings across the weekend, the school was very well represented across many finals.

With such a large team we were on fire in the relays, winning three golds, a silver, and a bronze. Special mention to the Premier B team winning the 4 x 25m Waterpolo relay!

There were also several individual stand-out performances. Sam Rowe earned a 3rd place in the 100 backstroke and Joshua Carroll with two silvers in the 50m and 100m backstroke and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.  Both Alex Willis and Alex Odom had impressive weekends. Alex Willis won all six events of the events he entered and gained a school record in the 100m Breaststroke. Alex Odom picked up five golds and a silver. He also broke school records in the 50m & 100m freestyle and the 50m & 100m backstroke.

PNBHS was the top school in points for both boys and overall. We also placed second in relay points.
