SSR - Sustained Silent Reading by PNBHS

2021 February Library News

Our Library has been welcoming the Year 9s in their English classes and letting them know of all the services and resources available. Our friendly staff are able to help with all kinds of requests from which book to read, to changing passwords.

Our Student Librarian cohort is filling up with keen volunteers who want to give something back to the school. Our Head Student Librarian is William Hince, who has been with us since late in Year 9. Congratulations, William!

We welcome the Mentors, who will be helping us in the Library during busy periods on a roster basis and hope they enjoy their time interacting with our regulars.

The Year 9 Readers Cup regional competition is taking place in late June and we are looking for team members to represent our school. Application forms are available from the Library or your English teacher. Teams of four with one reserve answer quiz-type questions on 6 recent New Zealand/Australian books.

Students may issue 5 books for 3 weeks and use the library computers for homework or research. We stay open from 8.00am to 4.30pm.
