Torrence Cheung - NZSS Symphony Orchestra 2021 by PNBHS

New Zealand Selection for Torrence Cheung

Congratulations to Year 10 student Torrence Cheung, who has been selected in the New Zealand Secondary Students Symphony Orchestra for 2021.

2020 has been a busy year for Torrence.  At PNBHS he is in the Junior Symphonia and SOAP Choir, as well as a keen debater.  He was a member of both the 'Strings Attached' Trio and the Senior 'Norton Trio' that competed at the Registered Music Teachers annual Chamber Music Competition, with the 'Norton Trio' winning and 'Strings Attached' finishing in second place.

At the recent Junior prizegiving, Torrence was the inaugural recipient of the Rector's Award for Outstanding Academic and Cultural Achievement.  He was also the recipient of the Read Wheeler Cup for the Outstanding Junior Musician at the PNBHS Cultural Awards assembly.

Torrence is a dedicated and determined musician and his selection in the New Zealand Secondary Students Symphony Orchestra is a result of the countless hours of hard work he has put in.
