Junior A Water Polo - Bronze Medal Presentation by PNBHS

Junior A team compete in Water Polo Championships

Junior A team finish third.

From Thursday the 26th to Sunday the 30th of November the Junior A Water Polo team competed in Division 1 of the North Island Year 9 and 10 Water Polo Championships. The team had a tough pool with games against four of the powerhouse water polo schools in the country, whom Palmerston North Boys’ School had not previously beaten at any level.

The team played exceptionally well in their pool games. Every member of the team including goalie Hamish Edmunds, scored goals. In particular, Alex Odom scored a large number of fantastic goals as a result of great team work. The Junior A team beat Rangitoto College 10-4, Sacred Heart College 10-4, Auckland Grammar 15-7 and Hamilton Boys 10-3 to go through top of the pool.
A tight semi-final was played against Tauranga Boys’. The team tried hard and played some great water polo. Unfortunately the team struggled to convert chances for a variety of reasons, and lost the game 7-9.

The bronze medal match was against Westlake Boys’, another school that PNBHS has never previously beaten. Right from the start of the game, the Junior A team was too fast, too strong and too skilled for the opposition. The 10-7 winning score-line was closer than what the game actually was.
