Clay Target Shooters Make A Statement At Murray Luke Memorial

On the 12th of May our clay target shooters travelled to Taupo for the Murray Luke Memorial shoot. This is a shoot we really value as, with around 150 competitors from all over the North Island, it really tells us where we are at to start the season. Our A team made a statement in the first round - shooting 123 of 125 targets with four of the five-man team shooting a ‘possible’ 25 / 25. The B Squad followed up on the same field with some solid results given it was the first competition for three of them. The A team followed this up with an equally impressive Points Score round (where targets are worth three points each ) to finish on 475 / 500 for the day – clearly ahead of the rest. Palmy Boys’ have now won this shoot at least four times in the last 10 years.

Co-captain Josh Lourie shot 100 of a possible 100 points – only the third time in recent years that a PNBHS student has achieved this feat. Along with this there were many other positive moments throughout the day which bodes well for the whole group, as we head into the season.

Moving forward, the competition shooters will begin the regional circuit while our ‘newbies’ will have coaching days approximately every second week.
