Tennis Success for Jonty Giesen

Year 11 student Jonty Giesen achieved some very impressive Tennis results during term one. Jonty played in the Wellington Premier Men’s league representing Avalon club, who made the final of the competition. Playing against the number one ranked U16 player in New Zealand Jonty was in superb form winning 6 – 2, 6 – 1. He also won his doubles match to help Avalon to their first-ever Premier title.

Jonty then backed that up with an impressive performance as part of the Tennis Manawatū team competing in the Central Regions junior tournament, winning all of his matches on the way to helping Manawatū win this competition for the first time.

Jonty’s achievements saw him move to the number two ranking in New Zealand for U16. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects Jonty’s dedication and determination in all that he does.
