Join Us to Make the PNBHS Sports Hub a Reality

Building a sporting legacy together. For the last decade PNBHS and our Old Boys' Association have been working on bringing this project to life for our school. Join us to make it a reality!

Dear PNBHS community,

PNBHS, in collaboration with our Old Boys' Association, are proud to present you with an exciting project, the PNBHS Sports Hub, that will help ensure our co-curricular involvement continues to grow and prosper. We have worked hard to design a 21st Century facility that will benefit the young men of PNBHS now and in the future.

The PNBHS Sports Hub - Rector David Bovey PNBHS

As a school we are incredibly proud of the very high levels of participation of our young men in co-curricular activities, something our entire school community should also be proud of. We strive to provide our students with facilities and opportunities that allow them to excel in all areas of their school life. We have an outstanding Performing Arts Centre, a state-of-the-art Art Block and it's time to add a first-class sports facility, changing rooms and function room. We are asking you to partner with us to make this amazing facility a reality for our young men.

Many of you have fond memories of the teams and groups you were part of at school, regardless of the level you competed at.  While the point of school might be to get an education, the lifelong friendships that are made through sport, the lessons we learn about being humble in victory and gracious in defeat, the resilience we develop in the face of challenge and disappointment, serve us every bit as well in our lives as grades on a piece of paper.

The Sports Hub will see the current Jubilee Room, built to mark the school’s 75th Jubilee, demolished and replaced with facilities that will meet the needs of a wide range of summer and winter sports codes.

Our vision is to build sports facilities that will provide urgently needed venues for our Physical Education classes and further lift participation levels and the achievements of our top teams, facilities that will also become household names in the Palmerston North community and beyond - as the Speirs Centre has for the performing arts.

It is a community we’re building.  The Pavilion and Turf, as well as being essential facilities for Palmerston North Boys’ High School, will become a focal point for our growing school and Old Boys community.

We’re hoping that you will partner with us to help build that community.  The foundations have been laid with more than $1.3 million already raised through bequests and individual and corporate donations.

The construction of the Speirs Centre revolutionised the performing arts at Palmerston North Boys’ High School and made the Speirs family a household name in our city and beyond.

Now is your opportunity to join with us to grow the sporting legacy of our school.

We hope that you will consider partnering with us to make our vision a reality and build a legacy for future generations of our young men.  The school and Old Boys’ Association are right behind this project. If you would like someone to speak to about the project and how you could be involved please contact Mrs Rachel Wenham, the Campaign Manager wenhamr@pnbhs.school.nz / 0274423285.

In March 2027 we will be celebrating Palmerston North Boys’ High School’s 125th Jubilee, a significant milestone in the school’s history.  The opening of the Pavilion and Hockey Turf will be key events in these celebrations.  Please mark the 19 – 21st March 2027 on your calendar and we look forward to having you join with us in celebration.
