NZ Rural Games - Clash of the Colleges
AgriFutures Careers Day is a chance for students to explore career pathways and job opportunities throughout the entire food and fibre industry. The purpose is to connect students with study providers, industry associations and businesses from right across Aotearoa so they can map out their journey into the rural sector.
Clash of the Colleges is a fun, amazing-race style type competition that encourages students to have a go at a range of practical and theory based modules. Each module is designed to give students a taster for life and work in the food and fibre industry. Modules include fun activities like gumboot throwing and tractor pulling, practical skills-based tasks such as fencing, putting together shearing handpieces and performing CPR as well as theory modules including Artificial Insemination simulation, and plant identification.
The event has grown in recent years with more than 60 teams from across the lower North Island now involved. Congratulations to the team of Jack Aitken-Cade, William Campbell, Sam McKerras and Nicolas Verry who finished third in the Senior competition.
