Barrowclough Programme Certificates 2023 by PNBHS

Barrowclough Programme Presentations

The Barrowclough Programme was launched in 2009. The Barrowclough Programme is named in memory of a prestigious Old Boy, Sir Harold Barrowclough, who was a prominent sportsman, academic and leader at school from 1907 to 1912. Mr Barrowclough was a member of the 1st XV Rugby team for three years, was the Head Boy at College House and Head Prefect of the school.

On leaving school he studied Law at Otago University, and he served his country in both the First and Second World Wars. Following World War Two he had a long career in Law and in 1953 he became the Chief Justice of New Zealand, a role he fulfilled for 13 years.

The Barrowclough Programme is designed to support Palmerston North Boys' High School's vision: "To Develop Educated Men of Outstanding Character"

Within the junior school, the Barrowclough Programme identifies and commends young men who have achieved positive attitude grades in their year-end reports, maintained excellent attendance records, and actively participated in both school and extracurricular activities. Students meeting these criteria are honoured with a certificate, recognising their successful engagement in the Barrowclough Programme.

The Barrowclough Programme is a comprehensive pathway for all students throughout their school journey, offering a distinctive pursuit of excellence. It sets a unique benchmark and serves as a motivational goal for junior students to strive for, encouraging excellence across diverse fields.

Congratulations to those who earned the Barrowclough Programme certificate. This is a testament to your positive approach to academic endeavours and active involvement in school life. Your accomplishments are commendable, and you should take great pride in them.

For those Year 10 students who did not receive a certificate this year, this does not diminish your positive and meaningful contributions to our school culture. As a senior student, we encourage you to participate in the Barrowclough Award next year.
