National Representatives 2023

Huge congratulations to the young men who have been selected for international teams and groups during 2023. It is fantastic to see your determination, dedication and hard work rewarded.

Congratulations and good luck to Sam Hawinkels, Tom Hawinkels (vice-captain) and Liam McEwan (captain) who have been selected in the New Zealand U18 Paddle Blacks A team and to Ben Pettersson who has been selected in the New Zealand U18 Paddle Blacks B team. They will compete against Australia in the Oceania Canoe Polo Championships starting on December 12th.

Congratulations and good luck to Year 12 student Jaden Hita who, after initially being selected as a non-travelling reserve, has been called into the New Zealand U19 Junior Blacksox team to compete at the World Series to be held this November in Mexico. Earlier in the year Jaden was selected in the New Zealand U18 Developing Sox team.

Congratulations and good luck to Year 9 student Tahu Aumua who has been selected in the Aotearoa NZ Māori Rugby League 13s Tama Team that will compete in the Pacific Youth Cup Tournament later in the year.

Congratulations and good luck to Year 10 student Brodie Bennett who has been selected as the number one player in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Junior team to compete in Australia at the Oceania Championships.

Congratulations and good luck to Year 11 student Felix O’Neill who has been selected in the New Zealand Taekwondo team to compete at the World Championships in Finland in September. Felix will compete in the Junior U70kg class.

Congratulations to Year 12 student Ben Shirley who has been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2023 World Skate Oceania Roller Sports Championships in Brisbane in August. Ben will be competing in Youth Figures, Youth Free Skating, Youth Solo Dance and Junior Quartet. He has also been selected to compete at the 1st Figure World Cup in Germany in October.

Congratulations to Matthew Rowe who has been selected in the New Zealand U19 Cricket wider squad.  The photograph below was taken after he took 9 for 12 against Rotorua Boys' High School at the recent Super Eight Cricket tournament.

Congratulations to the Senior A Canoe Polo co-captains Tom Hawinkels and Liam McEwan who were selected for the tournament team following the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools Canoe Polo championships, effectively a New Zealand selection.

Congratulations to Premier A Water Polo captain Cole Phillips who has been selected for the New Zealand Junior Men's (under 20) team to play in the U20 World Championships in Romania in June.

Congratulations to Torrence Cheung who has been selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra for 2023, his second year with the group.

Congratulations to Xavier Coleman and Darren Juru who were selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools U19 Football team that toured Malaysia and Singapore in April. The team played two warm-up matches, as well as fixtures against the Malaysian Schoolboys and Singaporean Schoolboys sides.

Congratulations to Jerome Robinson who was selected in the New Zealand Māori Schoolboys Cricket XI and played against a Pasifika Schoolboys side in January.

Congratulations to Mareko Siliva who was selected for the Samoa Under 17 Football team that competed in a World Cup qualifying tournament in Fiji in January.  Unfortunately, Mareko was injured in a pre-tournament training camp so did not get the opportunity to compete in the tournament.

Congratulations to Brodie Bennett who was selected for the New Zealand Junior Squash team that played in the Junior Trans-Tasman test series against Australia in late December.  Brodie also competed in the Junior Oceania Squash tournament and placed third.
