Oklahoma!

Over 60% sold!! A fantastic musical experience awaits those who attend this year’s PNBHS/PNGHS Senior Production! Our young Company off cast and crew deliver a very funny but also tragic, foot-stomping entertainment fest. So what's it about?

Jake Maskill as cowboy Curly sets the theatre alight with his triple threat skills. Madeleine James is Laurey, a feistily independent young woman, struggling to come to terms with her feelings towards Curly. Their relationship is a major focus of the plot. Maddi West as Ado Annie plays an engagingly mischievous character who spends a lot of time deciding which man she likes best – when asked by Laurey, she responds “Whichever one I’m with!”

Phoebe Driscole is the wise Aunt Eller and knows that despite their constant arguing, Laurey and Curly are meant to be together and she does her best to guide them through their hormone-charged exchanges.

OK! Is a very funny show with some of the greatest musical theatre numbers of all time. But it’s also tragic and presents the situation of Jud Fry, a loner farmhand who feels excluded from the society around him leading to some disturbing behaviour. Rodgers and Hammerstein are credited with being the first to introduce serious themes to musical theatre, spawning the more modern great shows such as Les Mis.

Dance features strongly on a vibrant set capturing the shifting moods of this remote community in the Oklahoma Territory around 1900.
