NZQA National Top Art Tour

Congratulations to Cody Whitley and Will Liu for having their Level 3 Painting folio selected for the NZQA National Top Art Tour 2023.

This is a fantastic achievement, and we look forward to seeing their folios on tour around the country later in the year.

This is what Cody says about his work:
“My painting portfolio explores the impact of war. However, war does not take place between two earthly nations but instead, Star Wars breaks through New Zealand’s defence force and a war breaks out. The theme I was exploring is based around the impact of war and the lasting effect it might have on the people or place. In some instances, cultures are assimilated, and landscapes take on a new identity where tradition meets the perpetrator halfway.”

Will Liu’s Level 3 Design folio was also selected for the tour, and this is what he says about his work:
“Take a walk and see the surrounding city, streets, buildings and relax yourself. When I put on my headphones to isolate myself, everything around me is working but no one is there. The alone time comforts me because I can do what I want unfettered, relaxed and allows me to examine myself".
