Tommy Cottrill - The Big Science Competition by PNBHS

The Big Science Competition

On Tuesday, 21 May, thirteen Year 10 boys opted to take part in the Big Science online competition. The competition is written and run by Australian Science Innovations who deliver challenging science extension programmes for high school students who aim to broaden horizons, identify capabilities and build the Australian scientific community.  The test was run online at Palmy Boys and consisted of 30 multiple choice questions, which were based on science skills and capabilities.

Of the thirteen students, Tommy Cottrill achieved a Distinction for his efforts.  Congratulations Tommy! Six students (Robert Bosher, Samuel Greathead, Ducan Ho, Maheswar Karakkattu Kishor Kumar, Josiah Lo and Sinamai Tinofara) received Credit grades. Well done!  This was the first time this competition was run at Palmy Boys, so it was very much a pilot run. It is hoped that we will be able to open it to more of the year 10s next year. Thank you to all those who made the time to take part and a very special thank you to Mr Pegler who oversaw the whole exercise.
