This year saw a rise in the number of Year 9 and 10 students willing to take part in the Manawatu section of the Mathex competition organised by the NZ Mathematics Association. We had 25 students enrolled to take part in MATHEX22.
The competition was held at the Racecourse Event Centre. There were several local and regional schools in the competition, but we managed to gain first prize in Year 9 and first and second prizes in Year 10.
The students worked very hard during the term sacrificing their lunchtimes to prepare for the competition and we congratulate both teams but especially Year 10’s who also won a second prize as well this year.
I would like to thank the organisers of the Mathex Competition in particular the NZ Mathematics Association and the Manawatu branch of the NZ Mathematics Association.
Once again It was indeed a great pleasure to work with the PNBHS Year 9 and 10 students and then to win in both divisions in 2022.
I would like to personally congratulate all the members of the Year 9 and 10 groups who participated and helped to make this an exciting year for PNBHS Mathematics students.
