Drama Department Update

The 2023 Junior Theatre Showcase was highly successful with many people attending and significant skill development and theatre awareness learned amongst our young Company. Many thanks to Rohan Kanagasundaram who entertained between acts with his fabulous juggling.

Drama HOD and Director of the Junior Play, Mrs Sophie Coetzee, again took on the significant challenge of devising a play with her actors and the result was an excellent and highly relevant commentary on the role of technology in teenagers lives.

For the first four performances, Rohan Kanagasundaram entertained between acts with his fabulous juggling skills. On final night he was unavailable and Saem Millward delighted us with his smooth singing and piano skills.

JMT, directed by Mrs Kirsten Clark began work in Week 3 of Term 1. She adapted a well-known show to come up with her entertaining piece, The Ogre’s Swamp. With assistance from mum Mrs Deb Mcintosh, she created fabulous costumes which really lit up our Little Theatre. Kirsten was assisted throughout the year by Old Boy, Mr Mark Kilsby, and at times by senior students Noah Purcell and Jack Billing with guest Choreographer Taryn Baxter. The final product was a very funny and engaging work, thoroughly appreciated by our audiences.
