Featherston Street Cycleway Development by PNBHS

Featherston Street Cycleway Consultation

The Palmerston North City Council is currently asking how they could make Featherston St safer for everyone, and we’d like to make sure that you all have your say seeing as you know the area so well.

There have been more than 200 crashes between Botanical Rd and North St in the past 10 years, with a number involving pedestrians and cyclists.

The council has received funding from the ‘Streets for People’ programme from Waka Kotahi – NZ Transport Agency for an improved cycleway and pedestrian improvements in the section between North St and Aroha St (right by us), and funding for the cycleway for the section that connects to Botanical Rd. They’re seeking feedback on how the area could be improved and that can range from the footpaths, to turning movements, to buses, to cycling, to crossings, visibility etc. Please make sure you have your say so the voice of Boys' High can be heard loud and clear and the improvements benefit our tamariki, staff and parents.

We have given some initial thoughts to the council and will continue to work closely with them during the project. They’re looking to trial some options from March next year, but we’ll all be able to see a proposed design before then to give feedback on. You can find out and give feedback at www.pncc.govt.nz/featherston The project team also have sessions where you can talk to them which are listed on their website. We’d encourage you to engage with the council staff and give your ideas. The feedback period closes on December 9.
