Year 11 Māori Performing Arts Students Lead Pōwhiri for Hefei Delegation

On Tuesday, 21 May, Palmerston North City extended a warm welcome to an Education and Business Delegation from Hefei, China. The Palmerston North City Council proudly states on its website, “Palmerston North is a growing hub of international activity and networks. We are home to world-class education and research institutes, international firms and businesses in trade. We welcome students from all over the world and speak over 130 languages in our community.”

In this spirit, Palmerston North Boys’ High School has been instrumental in nurturing young minds through the hosting of international students, witnessing firsthand the enriching impact of International Education Exchanges. During this event, our Year 11 Māori Performing Arts Students had the honour of leading the Pōwhiri (Formal Welcome) for the Hefei Delegation. Our students accepted this privilege with enthusiasm and skill. Their performance gained high praise from the international visitors, as well as the Palmerston North City Council. The students’ efforts were supported by our International Director, Mrs. Young-Wilson; Gateway Coordinator, Mr. Johnson; HoD Māori, Mr Strickland, and the Dean of Māori Achievement, Whaea Debi Marshall-Lobb.
