Great start for Clay Target Shooters at Murray Luke Memorial
On Thursday, May 9th our clay target shooters travelled to Taupo for the Murray Luke Memorial shoot. This is a shoot we really value as, with over 30 squads from all over the North Island, it gives us a good sense of where we are for the season ahead. We were greeted by very chilly and quite windy conditions.
By their own standards the A team started poorly, dropping 18 of a possible 100 targets in the Single Rise event. However, they picked themselves up and put together a true team score in the all important Points Score ( triple points ) round. Only three points separated all five shooters with an average of 55 out of a possible 60 each. This put them narrowly ahead of the chasing pack. After the Single Barrel was complete, we finished the day with a very impressive 20 point win. Among some of the individual highlights Jacob Little who placed second place for the day.
Both our B and Development teams also had many highlights throughout the day. This bodes well for both the season ahead and the coming seasons.
