Manawatū Inter Secondary School Cross Country 2024 by PNBHS

Manawatū Inter Secondary School Cross Country 2024

Over 200 entrants from the wider Manawatū region meet last week at Timona Park in Feilding to contest this year’s Inter secondary schools cross-country event.

The course was made up of a 1km loop and a 2km loop that gave the organisers the flexibility to cater for Athletes with Disabilities, as well as the three different age groups. The weather was wet and cool, but the course was reasonably firm.

The eight PNBHS Year 9 boys dominated the field from the outset of their 3km course filling most of the top ten places.

1st Jai Parris, 2nd Fedric Sojan, and 3rd  Aiden McGregor.

The team won both the three man and six-man schools team event.

The ten PNBHS Junior boys ran well as a group over their 4km course securing two top three placings. The team pushed hard to pick up a majority of the next eight places.

2nd Jarvis Shaw, 3rd William Kenyon. The team won both the three-man and six-man schools team event.

The six PNBHS Senior boys found the competition tough with only one podium finish for the team. Some strong mid field performances helped the teams’ event.

3rd Jacob Lean and the team placed 2nd in the three man schools team event.

After performances at the school road race, cross country and this event a team was selected to attend the Super 8 competition to be held in Fogletown Park New Plymouth on the Monday, 27th May.

The Super Eight team is:

Jacob Lean (Captain), Bodie Bennett, Nicolas Verry, Jarvis Shaw, Filip Martin, Ollie Lean, Archie Giesen, Mitchell Wolland, Harrison Stevens, Jai Parris, Zac Chandler, Jacob Hassan, Max Chase, Aiden McGregor, Fedric Sojan.

Our thanks to Manawatu College, Sport Manawatu and Moa Harriers in particular Bill Twiss for the organisation.
