Principal's Message
WELCOME!
It is always exciting to welcome our families back after the long school break. The school campus becomes energised and those of us who work here regain our purpose. To those families who are new to Point View this year, I offer an especially warm welcome from us all.
We were encouraged to have so many whānau come along to “Meet the Teacher” sessions. There was also a good turnout for our first school assembly. Thank you for taking these opportunities.
LEARNING TOGETHER AT OUR SCHOOL
In my presentation at assembly and when introducing our teachers, I spoke about the importance of school and families coming closer, as we and our tamariki learn together.
We invite families to get closer by helping the school
at events like Twilight Market
by playing an active part on the Family and Friends Committee
on activities with your child’s class in and out of school
We need to bring a group of parents and grandparents together to rebuild our Family and Friends organisation. There will be a meeting on Monday 17 February at 7:00pm in the upper staff room next to the hall. Anyone interested in supporting the school through Family and Friends, please come along for a talk over tea and biscuits. We will try to keep our meeting to half an hour. Please register your interest on the simple survey Hero post sent out on Wednesday.
TWILIGHT MARKET
Planning for Twilight Market is well underway. Make sure you and your whānau are available for this event on Friday 21 March - it is not to be missed!
We are looking for more sponsorship. If you see this as an opportunity to market your business or enterprise, please get in touch with me to see if we can make that work.
Our teachers are involved in running stalls and collections. They will ask for support. Thank you for helping.
DROP OFF ROUTINES
We have a large number of students arriving before 8:15am and waiting outside the hall. This creates problems for us because there is a short window to prepare for the day before students come to class. Our Deputy Principals need to have time to work with teachers rather than minding early arrivals. We have a well resourced Before School Care programme which runs from 7:30 - 8:20am. If you wish to drop children before 8:15 am please book in with Kilkenny Kids .
