Interschool Table Tennis Tournament - Thursday 14 November

Cindy Jih —

Our Point View School Table Tennis Team competed in the Auckland Table Tennis Association's Interschool Competition. The team were enthusiastic, helpful and displayed a high level of sportsmanship. They encouraged each other and they also encouraged students from other schools. They thoughtfully umpired matches and helped to run some fun games while the organisers sorted out the draw for the finals. Many of our students made it to the quarter-finals. Our girls' team won first place overall. As individuals, Bessie Li and Elise Chong competed against each other in the grand final, with Bessie taking out the competition. A big thank you to Miss Firth for organising the Point View Tournament which helped create our interschool team and also for organising our interschool competition day. Thank you as well to our fabulous parents who helped us on the day!

Please find Bessie's recount below:

‘Ping pong‘ that's what we heard the moment we entered Auckland table tennis stadium in Epsom for the Auckland School table tennis competition for 2024. Over the past term we had been training very hard so we were full of excitement and confidence. As the games started and ended we sat quietly, excited to know if we were the grand 2024 table tennis winners (singles and teams).  As Ebi announced the girls and boys winners. Finally, it came to the girls' turn. Turns out that the top 2 are both from Point View School, 2nd place Elise Chong and 1st is Bessie Li!!! Our Point View School girls team also came 1st for BEST GIRLS TEAM!!!  But… we couldn't have done it without YOU!  Thanks to Ms Firth and Mrs Coomes for your hard work
