Important Message about Membership from PPCB Board Chair

Denise Torrey —

Renewing your membership

5 March, 2023

Kia ora PPCB Membership,

It is a great privilege to be representing many hundreds of principals in the PPCB family. It is particularly gratifying because it takes courage to stand apart from established conventions and forge new industrial representation. The PPCB Board wishes to thank and acknowledge you for your trust and enthusiasm in growing PPCB over the past year.

PPCB is strong and vital, as attested to by the depth of advocacy on your behalf in the current Collective Bargaining.

Each year in the period January 31 to March 31 PPCB invites members to rejoin. The annual fee is not deducted fortnightly rather must be paid within this payment period. Payment of the annual fee maintains financial membership of PPCB.

Maintaining and growing the membership base of PPCB is a key strategic goal. PPCB has been hugely effective in leveraging energy and focus across the industrial sphere. There is a greater focus on the conditions of principals' employment than there has been for a good long while and that has not come about by chance. While current negotiations (and those of other unions representing the Primary and Secondary workforce) continue to be challenging, we are pleased with the professionalism and advocacy of our negotiating team, so ably led by our Head of Union Denise Torrey.

It is critical that PPCB continues to be supported so that it can thrive, with a focus after the negotiations on parity with secondary schools for staffing ratios, management units and release.

The PPCB Board would appreciate your attention to your membership of PPCB at pace now. If you have not rejoined since February 1, 2023, then please do so over the next 3 weeks ahead. Members have until 31 March to do so.

Here is the link to confirm that you would like PPCB to bargain for you in Collective Agreement negotiations. By completing this you are stating that PPCB are negotiating for you so you will not be involved in any strike at present - we are continuing our good faith bargaining on March 28th, 2023.

Ngā manaakitanga
