Funding Boost Secured

Local funders have continued their support of Presbyterian Support Southland.

Local funders, including the Invercargill Licensing Trust, ILT Foundation, Community Trust of Southland and Central Lakes Trust, have re-committed their support of PSS for the next year.

The ILT and ILT Foundation have increased funding levels by $10,000 to $140,000 across the next year; with ILT Foundation committing $115,000 and the ILT $25,000.

This is an operational grant for Family Works, which supports the Dedicated Intake Service (DIS), Parenting Programme and a Social Work Support Worker.

With demand for services remaining exceptionally high, the boost has been very well received.

PSS Marketing and Communications Manager Shelley Erskine said: “Family Works supported 1280 families across 2015-2016, and demand for services continues to be extremely high. This additional funding will certainly be put to good use and will impact positively on families we work alongside.”

The Community Trust of Southland has committed to continue its annual funding of $120,000 (this increased by $20,000 in 2016) and the Central Lakes Trust has contributed $20,000 towards the Buddy Programme and SupportLink in Wakatipu.

“We are so fortunate to have local funders that enable us to do the work that we do, and we are looking forward to continuing to make a positive difference for Southlanders of all ages and walks of life,” Shelley said.
