Getting to Know You

Meet…. Elaine Wells

Role with PSS:

SupportLink Co-ordinator (Wakatipu) and Frankton Court Co-ordinator

Started in:

2003

Give us a quick overview of your role:

As SupportLink Co-ordinator, I meet volunteers from many cultures and match them with clients, and arrange monthly coffee group meetings. There are 20 volunteers and 45 clients located in the Wakatipu Basin. The geographical location can be challenging when meeting clients’ needs. Although we are not an essential service it can become so when clients do not have family living locally.
As Frankton Court Co-ordinator, I support residents by arranging social activities and services and oversee the refurbishment of cottages when necessary.

What’s the number one thing you love most about your job?

The people, the stability of the staff I work with, seeing the difference the volunteers make in the lives of their elderly clients and watching residents at Frankton Court socialising with and helping each other.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

My family – especially my two little grandchildren aged 3 and 18 months, playing bridge, reading, gardening and walking.

What's the one thing you can't live without?

Lipstick
