Looking for Canine Companions

Have you got a well behaved dog that loves company and would like to support your community?

Canine Friends Pet Therapy wants you to get in touch.

The organisation is a nationwide network of volunteers who take their dogs for visits to rest home residents or hospital patients.

Invercargill spokesperson Marie Lockie said a volunteer visited Peacehaven Village regularly and the initiative was very well received locally.

“Residents love it, staff love it and the dogs love it too as they get so much attention,” she said.

Marie said the initiative was open to any type of dog, so long as it loved people, was prepared to sit quietly and didn’t sniff, lick or jump up on people.
