The Board of Trustees is made up of parent representatives, staff members (including the Principal), and is established by the Government as a statutory body. This means it has specific regulations to follow and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school while ensuring all legal requirements are met. This is referred to as governance.

The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school, which falls under leadership and management.

The Board, together with school staff and in consultation with the community, works to develop policies and plans that guide the school's governance. It's important for you, as parents, to contribute to these plans and policies so they reflect the values and needs of our entire school community. Recent examples include the development of Pukerua Bay School's vision, values, and strategic plan. It's essential that we all work together toward common goals.

In addition to representing the voices of Pukerua Bay School parents, Board members bring a diverse range of skills and life experiences to the table. The Board meets monthly, with a strong focus on the current children and their learning.
